"Blessed
Spirit"
This is a life-size portrait of Patricia Dodd, a former member of the
John Curry
Skating Company and British National Ladies Champion from 1969 to 1971.
She has been described by John Curry as the world's greatest ballerina
on ice.
In this sculpture Ms. Dodd is performing an inside spread eagle, as
part of a
short program inspired by the music of Gluck.
The sculpture, now called
'Blessed Spirit', was exhibited in New York's Central Park at the
Wollman Skating
Rink in 1992, and is now on permanent exhibition at the World Figure
Skating
Museum in Colorado Springs.
